The original order from SAS (ABA) 1948 stated delivery of 10 aircrafts with an option of an additonal order for 4 aircrafts. The Saab Scandia aircraft was originally seen as a DC-3 replacement, but due to delays in deliveries this never come true. In reality only 18 aircrafts were built (including the prototype). Of these 6 were manufactureed by Fokker in Netherlands.

The original order for 10 aircrafts was reduced to 6, and the optional order was reduced to 2. In means that 8 aircrafts made service within SAS between the years 1950 and 1958. The aircraft was primarily used between the Scandinavian capitals and for shorter European flights.
